GETTING TO THE MUSEUM AND PARKING

Our colleagues at Göcseji Museum are delighted to give our guests a hearty welcome.  The museum is in the downtown area of Zalaegerszeg, our address is 2 Batthyány street. (Batthyány utca 2).

If you drive to the museum, you can park your car at a designated area used by the guests of Göcseji Museum and Mindszentyneum, the area is at the neighbouring October 6 square (Október 6. tér), right next to ZTE Arena.  A validated museum ticket will give you a free pass through the tollgate and a free parking.  You can also use the carpark between Göcseji Museum and Maria Magdolna Church where parking is subjected to fee (parking meter).                  

If you use the regular bus service, it takes about a 200 m walk to access the museum as you walk through Kovács Károly square (Kovács Károly tér) and pass by Maria Magdolna Church.

From the railway station the museum is about a 1300 m walk through Kosztolányi utca, or you can take bus 10 and get off at the third stop at Kovács Károly tér from where the museum is only a couple of minutes’ walk away.

OPENING HOURS

Summer opening times (1 April – 31 October), from Tuesday to Sunday: 10.00 am – 6 pm.

On Monday, the museum is closed.

Winter opening times (1 November – 31 March) from Tuesday to Saturday:10.00 am – 4 pm.

On Sunday and Monday, the museum is closed.

Adult: 1.000 Ft

Student: 500 Ft

Pensioner: 500 Ft

Group: 800 Ft (minimum 8 people)

Family: 2.000 Ft/family

You can visit the museum for free on our public holidays (15 March, 20 August, 23 October).

The citizens of Zalaegerszeg with EgerszegCard get a 20% discount from the entrance fee.

We sincerely recommend the guided tours of the curators of Göcseji Museum, where you can learn about interesting facts and stories.  You can book a group guided tour or a family guided tour for the following exhibitions:

VISITORS WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES

Göcseji Museum meets the accessibility standards.  We recommend that you approach the main entrance from Batthyány street.  A disabled parking space for people with physical disabilities is found in front of the museum.  Lifts go to all floors of the museum.  Accessible toilet is on the first floor. 

USEFUL INFORMATION

Cloakroom: The museum operates a complimentary and secure self-service cloakroom in the museum.  Handbags or other valuable items can be stored lockers.  Our guests hold the key until the end of their visit.   

Wi-Fi: We provide a free Wi-Fi service in the museum. 

Audio guide: in the permanent exhibitions, by using your QR Code you can download an audio guide with a mobile application to your phone.

Groups: We are happy to welcome groups.  Group tickets are available for groups of minimum 8 people or more.

Children’s Programmes: We ask you to book a museum pedagogy workshop in advance here: muzeum@gocsejimuzeum.hu   We look forward to seeing children and their parents at our announced Saturday morning workshop.

Visitors bringing prams: The museum is accessible; lifts go to all floors of the museum.

Taking photos: In our exhibitions taking photos without a flash is allowed, but only for personal use.

MuseumCafé: Our cafe is found in the neighbouring Mindszentyneum.

Library: Göcseji Museum has a reference library of more than 20000 volumes to advance research work.  The books are for library use only and their usage requires permit.   

Animals: Animals are not allowed in Göcseji Museum.
